The most noteworthy minority, the Muslims after the fall of the 2000 year Muslim rule and the tumble of the Mughal Empire, the last emperor  Bahadur Shah Zafar and the advent of British colonialism finally realized their weaker position and chose to part ways after living forever almost side by side with their non Muslim counter parts.

British colonialism had it own downside and perks- the disadvantage being in the form of losing a part of our heritage and culture and also utilizing our assets and our agricultural capacity, bringing themselves over the top of the trade market. The slight benefits, however, being that the people were given an insight into the importance of education , science and technology and how its advancement can be beneficial.

Overtime, when the Indians realized it was time they needed their country back from the fist of the British, they started to fight and oppose it. Due to this and other various reasons, the fight for justice between the Muslims and Hindus stirred up and created a turmoil of confusion. This war between the Hindus and Muslims fired up a whole set of events which today are collectively known as the Independence Movement and thus India marked its own Independence day on the 15th August 1947.

Children arrive at their respective schools in full uniform where the ceremony is started by the School principal where he speaks about all those struggles and then hoist the National tricolor flag. Then many other activities are held including dances, skits, songs, quiz competitions and speeches which gives the students a sense of healthy competition and educates them about their national history. The National anthem is sung with great pomp and fervor along with the school band performing with flutes and drums in which the whole school takes part and sings with great enthusiasm, and also a procession takes place in the streets.

Every event organizes many different activities. Schools usually gather their students and celebrate this day by organizing a big cultural festival. They encourage their students to take part in many activities such as skits in which students dress up as Jawaharlal Nehru, Gandhi and other such leaders and re enact scenes that led to our independence. Singing competitions are held in which each student sings national songs, the younger students take part in flag coloring competition, other students take part in quiz competitions that test their knowledge relating to the country’s history.

All these activities require active participation of the children and encourage learning and growth of the child along with shaping their personality and enhancing confidence.
