Once again, Earthquake Leaves Pakistan Nudged

An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was felt in some parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan on 13th December 2015, Wednesday.

Reports indicated that the affected areas were Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). While mild tremors were observed at cities including Chitral, Shangla, Gilgit, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal and surrounding areas.

Furthermore, The United States Geological Survey recorded the epicenter of the earthquake in the Afghanistan Tajikistan border region (i.e. 28 kilometres south of Jarm) and indicated a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale around 1:35 am with a depth of 242km.

According to the reports, the jolts were strong and left people in fear and panic. Even though they had only lasted for a few seconds, people remained fearful suspecting future tremors.

Many evacuated their homes after being woken up from their sleep by the tremors. However, no casualties have been reported up till now from any part of the country. And no serious damage has been done to property either.
The news went viral in no time; many took the news to social media sites such as twitter where they expressed their concerns, paid condolences and prayed for the safety of the country.
