Panama Paper Leaks Put Questions on PM’s Family

Recent Panama paper leaks have put questions on many of the prominent leaders of the world including the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif and also his family. On Monday, the family of Prime Minister Nawaz, in their defense, released a statement that the accusation is false and the ownership of offshore companies are 100% legal. This Panama report is currently one of the substantial leaks, exposing many of the other prominent names associating from different countries.

This Panama report is comprised of around 11.5 million documents that has been complied by a firm Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian law firm. This report is focusing on the investments that has been made in the offshore companies in order to avoid any tax implications levied by the local jurisdiction.

Nawaz Sharif’s family has been included in this list of the people that are being accused of such tax evasions. Three children of Nawaz Sharif are actually the part of the report. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Hasan Sharif and Hussain Sharif. According to the report, these children of PM, have the ownership of some properties in London with the help of these offshore companies.

Member of the Center for Investigative Reporting in Pakistan, Mr. Umar Cheema, has raised some serious and critical questions on the Prime Minister of Pakistan due to these hidden ownership’s of his children. Although, PM, personally doesn’t have any such ownership. CIRP has been already involved in the intricate investigation way before this Panama Leak.

Umar Cheema also revealed the other 200 names relating to the judiciary and the law making institutions that have been identified to be involved in such activities.

Imran Khan has also made an appeal to take some action against the Prime Minister. He tweeted that their intense opposition of the current government has now been justified.
