On Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced the launch of the National Health Programme in Islamabad in order to provide prompt and quality medical care for families whose income lay below the poverty line.
In his inaugural speech at the launch of the program, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated the government’s duty to provide the best possible medical care to the poor and needy, mentioning that the initiative was a step further in this regard. He added that he was committed to ensuring that the program was successful, going on to say that health-related endeavors should be free from politics.
The prime minister extended an invitation to all the provincial governments to join the national-level health program in order to provide better quality medical care to the poor and need from all over the country.
The prime minister announced his intention to make latest possible technical equipment available to private as well as public hospitals in order to implement this program. He added that those who try to misuse this equipment would be heavily penalized.
The prime minister gave directions to the federal health minister to keep an eye on the quality of the services being dispensed in order to assure the quality of the program.
