Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir has decided to postpone his visit to Pakistan, according to a statement released by the Pakistani Foreign Office on Sunday.
Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir was due to arrive in Islamabad on Monday for a two day long talk with Pakistani politicians regarding different issues of national interest.
This news comes not long after an increase in tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, following an attack on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and Riyadh ordering the Iranian ambassador to leave KSA immediately.
On Sunday, diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which were not very strong to begin with, deteriorated further after Iranians began to protest the execution of cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr earlier this week.
Nimr is considered a hero in Iran but a terrorist and anarchist in Saudi Arabia. After his execution Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a strong warning to Saudi Arabia regarding the execution.
